I popped up in Northern Virginia in 1968 and moved west to Denver in 1999. My reading material ranges from The Atlantic to TMZ and I read to become a better writer; murder mystery novels, like Agatha Christie are my fave. I grew up on the NFL, Cartoons, the of humor the Marx Bros. and Eddie Murphy.
My day job is in Business Software but otherwise I can be found searching for obscurities, vinyl, and all things ephemera at local thrift shops. It is also possible to catch me creating art, playing music, acting, and enjoying exercising to stay sane.
In February of 2005 my right side went numb, my brain stopped working properly, and I had a major panic attack. Fun times. With a wife, two young kids, a full-time job in I.T. tech support and programming, I struggled to comprehend the impact of the words, “You have Multiple Sclerosis.” The support of my wife, my employer, friends, and the community were crucial. Another key factor was my passion for exercise; it became my divining rod for staying healthy.
After a few failed attempts to use the available treatments, I chose to forgo a medicinal route in favor of dietary changes, continued exercise, and general lifestyle adjustments to areas such as sleep and alcohol consumption. Over the course of the years since my diagnosis, I have learned a lot about the disease and how I can maintain an active and fulfilling life while living with MS.
